An In-Home Newborn Session in Irvine, CA

An In-Home Newborn Session in Irvine, CA

The first weeks with a new baby are their own kind of world. Everything is slower and faster at the same time. The days blur together and somehow also stretch out infinitely. There is laundry and there is wonder and there is this tiny person who has completely rearranged everything — and you are just trying to keep up.

That's exactly where I want to come in.

An in-home newborn session isn't about a perfect house or a perfectly dressed baby. It's about documenting what this actually looks like — the light coming through your bedroom window, the way you hold them, the way they curl into you like they already know exactly where they belong.

Why I Shoot Newborn Sessions In-Home

There are a lot of ways to photograph a new baby. Posed studio sessions have their place. But for families who want something that feels true to their life — unhurried, warm, real — in-home lifestyle sessions are hard to beat.

Your home already has everything we need. Natural light, familiar textures, the bassinet in the corner, the spot on the couch where you've been feeding and cuddling your new little human. Those details matter. Ten years from now, you'll want to remember not just the baby but the whole world they came home to.

For this Irvine session, we worked through the morning light — the best light for an in-home shoot is almost always whatever is coming through your biggest window. We moved slowly. We let the baby lead the pace. And we got everything we needed without anyone having to perform.

What to Expect from an In-Home Newborn Lifestyle Session

If you've never done a lifestyle newborn session before, here's what it actually looks like:

I come to you. No packing a diaper bag, no strapping a newborn into a carseat. I show up at your door. I can wear a mask if needed and will come in quiet and calm. Nothing to disturb your precious newborn bubble.

We go slow. Feeding breaks, diaper changes, fussy stretches — all of it is built into the session. We follow the baby’s cue. And any other older siblings cues as well.

You don't have to clean your whole house. Tidy the main spaces we'll use, usually the couch in the living room, the bed in your primary bedroom and the nursery… and let the rest go. I remember what my house looked like after my baby, this is a judgment free zone!

The best shots are the quiet ones. Baby sleeping on your chest. Your partner watching from the doorway. A tiny hand wrapped around your finger. That's what we're after.

The Best Time to Book Your Newborn Session in Irvine

The ideal window for a newborn lifestyle session is within the first two to three weeks — when babies are still sleepy and curled and new in that particular way they only are for about fifteen minutes. I recommend booking before your due date so we can get on the calendar and adjust as needed once baby arrives.

If you're past that window, don't stress. I've photographed babies well into the first few months and there is always something worth documenting. But if you want that fresh newborn softness, earlier is better.
